The Origin and Meaning of Communion

Learn how to give to life in this message through remembering and giving thanks for what God has already done.

Exodus 12

24 And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever.  25 And it shall come to pass, when ye be come to the land which the Lord will give you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keep this service.  26 And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service?

Luke 22

14 And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.  15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:  16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.  17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:  18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.  19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.  20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

The Healing Power of Touch

18 And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed.  19 And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all. 20 And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.  Luke 6 vss 18 – 20
From the moment humans emerge from the womb of our mothers, we are reaching out to feel with our hands and fingers.  We are eager to touch.  We touch ourselves wherever we can reach.  There is something miraculous, magic and mysterious about touch, touching and being touched.  It is an experience we seek out and want over a lifetime.
Many of our mothers fed us from the bodies, their breasts.  Touching women’s breast is a male obsession and fixation from the cradle to the grave.
Humans touch themselves and ideally enjoy shared experiences of mutual touching for pleasure, relationship maintenance and development.  People experience different levels of emotion if they are not touched enough or if they are touched too much.
Partners in marriage experience frustration and misery when one has stopped touching the other.  No touching suggests no interest.  Questions arise with tension that only touch can resolve.
Spouses and lovers die taking their premium touch with them and people left behind feel its absence.  Conventional rules of spirituality lock them into behavioral contexts that exacerbate their disappointment and unhappiness.
Few among us do not enjoy the warm breath of the one who loves us blowing gently on our ears and neck while touching us in ways only we share with each other.  Humans do not do well in the absence of affirming and loving touch.  We can get crazy.
How shall we learn to manage getting our needs met in way that electrify us, ground us, and sanctify?  Observe the Healing Power of Touch in The Life and Ministry of Jesus reveals the Healing Power of Touch
